The Romans Scripture Road to Salvation
The 1st stop on the Romans Scripture Road to salvation is Romans 3:23 (NIV) “ For all fall short of the glory of God”.
We all sin, no matter how big or small we think our sin is, it cuts us off from our Holy God. But they can all be forgiven. Not one of us is righteous, as it is written we are all under the power of sin.
The 2nd stop on the Romans Scripture Road to Salvation is Romans 6:23 (NIV) “ For the wage of sin is death.”
We’re free to choose between two masters, but we are not free to adjust the consequences of our choice. The consequence of sin is death, that’s all we could expect to hope for in a life without God. In Jesus Christ we have eternal life-new life with God that begins here on earth and continues forever with God. The punishment of our sin is not only would we die a physical death, we would die an eternal death too.
The 3rd stop on the Romans Scripture Road to Salvation continues on in Romans verse 6:23 (NIV) “ But the gift of God is eternal life.” Eternal life is a gift from God, if it’s a gift it’s not something we earn, or something we must pay back. Our salvation is a gift from God, not something of our own doing.
Romans 5:8 tells us “ But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” Jesus died just for us.
The 4th stop on the Romans Scripture Road to Salvation is Romans 10:9 (NIV) “ For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.”
Because of Jesus’ death, he blood bought our sin, he paid the penalty for us. All we need to do is respond and accept his gift of salvation. Some people think it’s a complicated process, but it is not. If we believe in our hearts and say with our mouths that Jesus Christ is the risen Lord, we will be saved.
Our Last stop on the Romans Scripture Road to Salvation has a wonderful message: Romans 5:1 “ Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.”
If you have made the decision to follow Christ, here is a simple prayer. A prayer is a way for you to declare to God that you are relying on Jesus for your salvation. The words won’t save you, Just your faith is Jesus will.
“God, I know that I have sinned against you and am deserving of punishment. But Jesus Christ took the punishment that I deserve so that through faith in Him I could be forgiven. I declare that Jesus Christ is my Lord and Savior. With your help, I place my trust in You for salvation. Thank You for Your wonderful grace and forgiveness – the gift of eternal life! Amen!”
