Collins Dictionary defines peaceable this way: ADJECTIVE Someone who is peaceable tries to avoid arguing or fighting with other people. 1. fond of, inclined toward, or promoting peace; not quarrelsome2. at peace; peaceful
Are we a peaceable people?
As Christians we should try our best to be. Jesus demonstrated and modeled for us how to be a peaceable people.
We can see throughout the ages we have not always been a peaceable people. Being a peaceable people has ebb and flowed throughout history.
What about us as individual Christ followers? Jesus gives us the invitation to follow him, and follow his examples.
Let’s look at some qualities of Jesus that will help us be a peaceable follower. These include, but are not limited to, compassion, serving, loving, forgiving, committed, prayerful, gentile, patience, self-control, and humbleness.

” But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality and without hypocrisy.”James 3:17 (NKJV). ( ” May the purity, peace, gentleness, teachableness, and mercy shown in all our actions, and the fruits of righteousness abounding in our lives, prove that God has bestowed upon us this excellent gift.” ( Matthew Henry’s Concise Commentary)
” And my people shall dwell in a peaceable habitation, and in sure dwellings, and in quiet resting places;”Isaiah 32:18 (KJV). (” let us take refuge in His loving care. In Him are our safe dwellings and our quiet resting-places.” ( Through The Bible Day By day)
” And the peaceable habitations are cut down because of the fierce anger of the Lord.”Jeremiah 25:37 (KJV) (” The tender and delicate shall share the common calamity. Even those who used to live in peace, and did nothing to provoke, shall not escape.
