Let’s face it. We can’t hide from it, we all get disappointed. How we cope when we are disappointed is a whole other ball game.
Sometimes I feel like I want to close up and withdraw. You know, isolate myself. But I have found, if I do that I just perseverate on the issue. Now, I dig deep into his word to find peace and comfort. Jesus never promised us an easy life. In fact he said we would have many trials and sorrows (John 16:33) (NIV). Maybe you’re going through something right now. If you are there is hope. I hope you find some encouragement in the following verses.
6 Bible verses to pause and reflect on, and pray about when you feel disappointed
” The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.“Psalm 34:18 (NIV)
” Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.Proverbs 3:5-6 (NIV)
” For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.Jeremiah 29:11 (NIV)
” For his anger lasts only a moment, but his favor lasts a lifetime! Weeping may last through the night, but joy comes with the morning.Psalm 30:5 (NLT)
” But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength. They will soar high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint.Isaiah 40:31 (NLT)
” We can rejoice, too, when we run into problems and trials, for we know that they help us develop endurance. 4 And endurance develops strength of character, and character strengthens our confident hope of salvation. 5 And this hope will not lead to disappointment. For we know how dearly God loves us, because he has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with his love.”Romans 5:3-5 (NLT)
” For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all.”2 Corinthians 4:17
