Fruit Of The Spirit Affirmations— Kindness
Continuing on in our look at each of the fruits of the Holy Spirit and how affirming them cultivates intentional mindfulness within us.
Affirmations are a statement intended to provide encouragement, emotional support, or motivation,
In Philippians 4:8, Paul gives us instructions on what we should think or meditate about.
“And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.” Philippians 4:8— NLT
According to Wikipedia, In common language usage, “fruit” usually means the seed-associated fleshy structures (or produce) of plants that typically are sweet or sour and edible. The fruits of the Spirit are fine points that should naturally grow out of the proceedings of the Holy Spirit in our life.
But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things! Galatians 5:22-23— NLT
Fruits of the Spirit affirmations are based upon Scripture to inspire us to cultivate the fruits of the Spirit in our daily lives. The word “Spirit” in these affirmations will be capitalized because these are fruits given to us by the Holy Spirit, not ourselves.
The fruits of the Spirit are:
- Love
- Joy
- Peace
- Patience
- Kindness
- Goodness
- Faithfulness
- Gentleness
- Self-control
Each affirmation consists of scriptures, positive affirmations, and questions to motivate you to go deeper in meditation and study time.
Say the affirmations and scriptures out loud as you work through the study.

Kindness
Imagine you’re walking down the street while shopping, and ahead of you, you see a young man hurrying to open the door for a woman. One arm is loaded with bags while the other works to steer a stroller holding a small child. The toddler drops her toy, and the young man reaches down to pick it up and hands it back to the child. He holds the door open until they are safely inside, then he walks ahead of you down the street. He chose kindness.
Kindness is shown when we show a kindhearted concern toward others.
When we show the kindness of God, we are tender and helpful to others. Our actions and words reflect His grace.
Here are affirmations and verses about kindness to encourage you as you learn to show kindness to those you love — and those who are hard to love.
Mirrored Kindness
—I choose to mirror God and show others kindness, just like He’s given me.
“Instead, be kind to each other, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God through Christ has forgiven you.”
Ephesians 4:32— NLT
Choice Kindness
—I choose my attitude and actions every day. I choose to put on unselfish kindness.
“Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.”
Colossians 3:12— NIV
Reflections
When I show kindness to others, does it reflect on God’s kindness to me?
How can I share kindness with others today?
Do I seek to gain from the kindness I show, or is it pure kindness? How do I know?

Paula, kindness is in short supply today, so a fine fruitage to consider. Even online, there is so much contentiousness between people on social media. They can’t seem to tolerate anyone else holding a different opinion about anything. The world would be a better place if we could all just remember to practice kindness, not just toward those we know and like, but toward all.

if ever we needed to cultivate, to choose, to display kindness, it is now. may we as people of faith lead the way. may we become known for what we love and be able to articulate that in a way that is winsome and thoughtful.

What a good way to meditate and apply these verses so God can grow His fruit in us. It’s easy to just read through the fruit of the Spirit and move on, but we need to take time to think through each one.

Paula, I love the thought of “mirroring” God’s kindness to me, to others. We truly have received grace upon grace, I believe so we can share with others, and kindness is so easy to share!!
