This post is part of the Five Minute Friday blog link-up. Where I join up with a community of writers and bloggers of all ages and stages who gather around a single word prompt to free-write, unscripted, unedited, for five minutes. This week’s word prompt id {STRETCH}

When most people think of the word stretch, they think about stretching their bodies in preparation for exercise and physical health.
But what about stretching for brain fitness? What is brain fitness?
Brain HQ describes brain fitness this way “Think of it as a personal gym, where you exercise your memory, attention, brain speed, people skills, intelligence and navigation instead of your abs, delts, and quads. Just as our bodies require care and exercise over the course of life, so do our brains—especially as we age.”
Below are a few ways we can stretch our brains
Pray— Sure, most of us know how to pray, but what about when we get stuck and know what we want to say, but the words won’t come out? Sometimes I think God wants us to get real with him. While he knows our hearts, Sometimes I think he wants us to dig deep and become raw, transparent, and vulnerable to him.
Puzzle Books— Word searches, crosswords, logic puzzles, jigsaw puzzles, and spot differences. I enjoy word searches.
STOP
Games— Card games, scrabble, monopoly, etc. I enjoy the card game Phase 10.
Create something— Are you one of those people who say, but I’m not creative? Is there something on your mind that you have been thinking about making? Everyone has to start somewhere, so don’t sell yourself short. Start small. Some crafts and hobby ideas include adult coloring books, painting by number, crochet, cross-stitch, painting, jewelry making, writing, blogging, journaling and cooking. I have recently been coloring through the Calm & Cozy adult coloring book.
Read— I’ve recently begun reading physical paperback books again. Sure Kindle or Nook is easier to read because you can set the light and font size. But lately, there’s just something about a physical book in my hands that is satisfying.
Learn a new language— Did you know that math and music are languages?
So sorry, friends, I went way over my five minutes, my apologies. 😉
Stretch on my friends.
